Regions Bank
Regions Mobile Review. Great Features but Glitchy Functionality
- 01/25/2019
However, it has numerous glitches, and most of the app’s advertised featured don’t work great on either iOS or Google Android.
Interface
While the app might be glitchy at times, the UI is responsive, and tabs are well-laid out. The design offers most of the functionalities found on the desktop site. The main login screen dominates the theme right from the start, and on this screen, you can also check locations and Regions contacts. The latest version offers an updated UI for the new iPhone X.
Once you log in, you will see a left panel with options for your Accounts, Transfers, Payments, Deposits, Rewards, Settings, Contacts and a tab to find the nearest branch or ATM. All your Regions accounts are itemized neatly, from Borrowing and Savings to Investment accounts. 8/10.
Key Features
The Regions app integrates many of the Over-the-Counter tools that you don’t need to have a physical signature for, such as viewing checking balances and your transactions history, transferring funds between Region accounts, locating the nearest Regions branches and ATMs. You can also edit and see your scheduled payments and make payments and e-bills.
Other features include requesting alerts for checking, viewing Relationships rewards point balances and making deposits for savings and money markets. You can also block your cards and stop transactions right on the app.
The app works with most of the Android versions. The iOS version requires iOS 9.0 or later, and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Slight tweaks have been made to the Regions Mobile Deposits feature.
Both App Store and Google Play apps are free, and there are no in-app purchases. 9/10.
Usability
The general functionality of the app is useful although it comes under severe glitches at times. Overall, the integration of the PC and mobile apps is okay. The app has crashed on me at least once although an update fixed this. Uploading images on this app seems complicated, and the app repeatedly gets an error when you try to do this for your receipts. The Remember Me feature also never seems to work. Login to this app is challenging, and I wish they would incorporate a Touch or Fingerprint reader. The Android app works just as bad as the iOS version. 8/10.
Is Regionals Mobile Safe?
I haven’t had any complaints with this app on security so far although I wish they’d have fingerprint recognition developed. The bank has T&Cs that spell out under what circumstances loses can be reimbursed, and all deposits are protected under FDIC. 9/10.
Bottom Line
This isn’t the leading banking app in my view, and the fact that it has too many glitches may put off customers to other apps. It seems the updates in the last one year made the app even worse. I wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone.
