  • Greg Burn

In recent years, the world has seen a rise in people making New Year's resolutions. Whether it's a new gym membership, starting a new diet, or quitting smoking, there are plenty of things people want to change and be better at.

You’ve probably heard that January is the best month to make your New Year’s resolutions. Why? Because as soon as the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, people feel a renewed sense of motivation and inspiration.

Useful Tips for Making Your New Year's Resolutions Stick

This year, rather than just setting your resolutions and hoping they stick, try employing a few of these tips to help you achieve your goals.

Make sure your resolutions are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. If you can’t answer the five SMART questions about your resolutions, you might want to consider a different goal.

Make your resolutions realistic. Please don’t set your resolutions so high that it’s impossible to achieve them. If you’re going to quit smoking, make a plan that you can stick to, and you’ll be much more likely to succeed.

Set a time frame for your resolution. Determine how long you’ll keep trying to stick to your resolution and when you’ll consider yourself a failure.
