Google Translate Gets Two New Widgets

  • Greg Burn

Until recently, the Google Translate app functioned widget-lessly, cementing its reputation as a fast and handy standalone service. However, this has now changed, because soon Google is planning to activate widgets within its translation app. Are you intrigued? Want to know more about it? We’ve got you covered! Keep reading for more details on the new soon-to-be-enabled Google Translate widgets. And don’t forget to let us know what you think on the topic in the comments below.

Yes, the Google Translate application is about to launch brand new widgets to boost the translator’s efficiency. We’re guessing you won’t need to update the app to unlock those widgets because they’re already there in the inactive mode. Both the interface and rollout concept remind us of the new YouTube Music widget that was introduced in 2021.

Wondering when those widgets will go live? So are we! As of today, the tech giant hasn’t released any official announcements regarding the new widgets. According to Mishaal Rahman, who is the Senior Technical Editor at Esper (and who managed to activate the disabled widgets), the ‘hidden treasures’ are referred to as Saved Translations and Quick Actions. The former provides fast access to your frequently-used translations, while the latter offers voice translation, camera translation, conversation mode, and similar goodies.

Both widgets look similar to the YouTube Music widget in terms of their design. Rahman provided the screenshots of them on Twitter as proof of his words. Furthermore, both widgets are spiced up by the Android 12 Material You color palette, meaning they’ll become the color complimenting your wallpaper and icons. Just make sure you enable this possibility. So, are you going to put the soon-to-be-launched widgets through their paces? We sure are! Speak up on the topic in the comments below!
