How will YouTube’s 'Premium Lite' Subscription Fare on European Markets?
Don't you just hate it when all those ads pop up while you're trying to watch a video on YouTube? Or when your subscription is over but you don't have enough cash to renew it. Well, it seems YouTube has found a solution for you. And it is called premium lite.
This new cheaper subscription service is designed to remove the ads you're made to suffer through. But for a price of €6.99/month (or the local equivalent).
This subscription plan would allow people who aren't interested in the other benefits of a YouTube premium subscription plan to only pay for an ad-less experience on the platform. So you won’t be able to make offline downloads, play the music in the background or use YouTube music.
In an official statement obtained by The Verge from Google concerning the new subscription, Google presents its service more as a “test offering.” Therefore the 'Premium Lite' feature is not available to the general public yet. It is still being tested in key markets in Europe such as Finland, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
According to the info on YouTube Premium lite page, you can share this service along with YouTube kids across several different devices.
While this has been a topic of discussion on online forums ResetEra and Reddit, it seems more features may be added in the future. And while this is just a speculation, YouTube has stated that the Premium lite plan is still being tested out. And that it’s very likely that the company will add some more features to make the plan more attractive, or they may release other plans in the future. And all this depends on the response garnered from the users.
Do you think the premium lite subscription is worth it? Are there any new features you would like YouTube to add? Please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
