Split-screen Possibility Joins the Horizon for Baldur's Gate III on Xbox Series S

We finally received the exciting news last week that Baldur's Gate III will be released on Xbox Series S/X this autumn, having already been released for PC and set to launch on PlayStation 5 on September 6. However, there's a bit of a hitch.
The Xbox Series S version will not include the split-screen gaming feature, a functionality that will be provided in the Xbox Series X variant. While it seemed like the full story, the official Xbox account on X gave us some hope during the weekend by stating that they plan to "continue collaborating with Larian to possibly incorporate split-screen on Series S after the release".
This implies there might still be a possibility for split-screen to be added to the Xbox Series S version, but it would take place post-launch if it does happen.
