SwoonMe Makes Online Dating 'Less Superficial’

  • Samanta Blumberg

Nowadays the digital market offers us a wide variety of dating apps .Whether you’re looking to head down the aisle or for a casual fling, there’s a service suited for you.

A brand new dating app SwoonMe adds a combination of avatars and audio. This way, the developer is hoping to prevent superficial evaluation of users' profiles. But will the idea really provide a new way for users to interact?

Reinventing Dating Experience

The SwoonMe dating app works great for those who are looking for some deeper connections but not limited to people looking for long-term relationships. This app converts your selfie into an avatar. Then you record a voice clip to tell about yourself and what you are looking for. You can also answer some side questions to bring more clarity about your interests and personal preferences.

SwoonMe is an LGBTQ+ friendly app and has an inclusive sign-up flow as an option. Another important thing is that the app allows you to avoid some types of catfish by having a voice clip function.

The avatar and voice-based features aren’t new and have already been successfully used within other dating apps. For example, the app Jigsaw attracted $3.7 million of investments for their weirdly-designed anti-superficial-evaluation dating app. User reactions appeared to be much worse than the company expected. Their decision to restrict what users can see was a huge mistake. It caused an overly superficial evaluation instead of the implied anti-superficial effect.

New Dating Horizons

You can download the app in App Store and Play Store lease, the app available in beta testing. The main focus is on the users from San Francisco and Los Angeles, but you can try it regardless of your location. So, as we can see the SwoonMe’s developers are trying to make some changes in the online dating app niche. Will you download the app to support this small team’s initiative? Do you see the potential in their not that unique but cleverly presented concept? Tell us what you think in the comments and share the article if you liked it.
