Take a Look at a New Map Interface in Google Search

  • Greg Burn

Google has announced that a new interface look will be released soon to the map design and local pack in the search results. Now the map will be located in the right corner of the screen in the “local pack” of the desktop app.

This update’s goal is to make the search for people easier and provide a comfortable and easy-to-navigate look for their tools. The new interface has the local results on the left, where information like rating, website, and photos can be seen, and the map itself with the locations on the right, this is supposed to help the users to locate places they are looking for easily. The update is set to release broadly in the next few weeks.

The old design had a bigger scale map on the top, so it was a little bit unclear which place is currently observed, and to see all the local results you had to scroll down. That interface took more space on the screen and was harder to navigate, so the new changes were expected.

This interface update has been in testing for several months, and only recently some of the users have confirmed that they’ve seen a new version of the interface in their search results. Google has been asked if the update will be available soon, and the company has answered positively.

Business owners have noticed a local ranking change and a new wave of local search traffic, which can be related to the worldwide release of the update. If you own Google Business Profile, we suggest checking your queries in the account to make sure that all of your information shows correctly.

This update will surely help Google users to navigate the page easier, and now the map interface in search results looks more presentable and easy to use. Do you like the new design? What other changes to the interface would you like to see? Share your ideas in the comments below.
