Tinderverse Is Coming: Not Only Dating But a Full Metaverse
Are the boundaries between online matching and offline dating so hard? Tinder has already done a lot to erase them, and now, according to CEO Renate Nyborg’s statements, it’s going further in this direction. The experience Tinder intends to deliver will become so diverse that it’s time to speak of Tinderverse.
The recently added Explore feature is just one step in that direction. Events like Swipe Nights help users to find their adventures and thus select matches based on them. It’s easier to plan a date when both know what they want it to be like. But it’s just the beginning.
Another feature Tinder wants to implement is its virtual currency used within the app. Not only will allow it to launch sales and discounts with more ease and make its payment policy more flexible. It will also be a reward for the most loyal users for good behavior. What exactly it depends on the moment: Tinder can stimulate various activities with it, from communication to sports and purchases on certain stores. Hardly will it be a fully-fledged cryptocurrency, rather an analog of in-game ones.
But the most ambitious plans include creating Tinder’s own Metaverse where people can share virtual spaces as if they were real. Tinder can use VR and AR technologies for that; for a service that deals with emotions and impressions, it seems more than logical. Still, Renate Nyborg highlights that the basic aim of Tinder is to help people meet and find each other in real life. And that’s what Tinder is to be about: make offline dating as comfortable and safe as possible.
